Hello Monday: What We've Been Up To!
Hi friends!!!
Happy Monday!!!
I don't know if it's the same for you- but it's the first day of REALITY for us since the kiddos got out of school on December 20th...LAST YEAR! ;)
We really had the BEST Christmas break.
It was FULL. FUN. and I am SO thankful for the time off with my kiddos.
Aaron was worked A LOT. He was on call for 5 days straight including Christmas Eve and Christmas. He is amazing and did everything he could to fulfill all of his work responsibilities but also be home for our family's special Christmas traditions.
I know we are well into January...but I sure hope you don't mind if I share a little recap of our Christmas holiday! I don't feel like I can jump back into "regular" old blogging without sharing what we've been up to the past few weeks!!
CHRISTMAS EVE and CHRISTMAS!
Christmas Eve morning the kids and I kicked off our festive, fun day by having our traditional Christmas Eve breakfast: Rudolph pancakes! After breakfast we decorated gingerbread houses and made reindeer food :)
It was a Christmas miracle when Aaron arrived home WELL before we needed to be at Christmas Eve Mass! I was so thankful! I have no idea how- but we got a great family picture before we headed to church! YAHOO!
Christmas morning, the kiddos were up bright and early and we finally let them come downstairs just a bit before seven :) We opened presents and had to document the fact that the WHOLE family had matching Santa jammies this year! After we opened presents and had a yummy breakfast of cinnamon rolls and scrambled eggs, Aaron headed off to work and I went into over drive mode getting the house ready for Christmas dinner!
The kids played with their toys all day and I cooked and cleaned (and drank lots of coffee).
Aaron got home right before my brother and his family arrived for dinner! We were all able to fit around our dining room table and we had the BEST time eating and telling stories!
Despite Aaron having to work quite a bit, we really had the loveliest Christmas Eve and Christmas. SO grateful!
NEW YEARS EVE!
We rang in the New Year with a simple, sweet celebration :)
We ordered pizza and watched Kung Fu Panda. After the movie was over, everyone got showered and we went to Baskin Robbins for an ice cream treat!
We played games and the kids were asking to go to bed around 9:30 pm :)
That was totally fine with us! HA!
A SPECIAL CHRISTMAS TRIP!
On New Year's Day, we headed out bright and early for a special Christmas trip!
One of the kids' Christmas presents this year was a trip to Colonial Williamsburg and Christmas Town at Busch Gardens.
We started our trip with about 5 bathroom breaks in the first hour (THANKS MARSHALL- HA!) and ended up grabbing a late breakfast at good ol' McDonalds.
We arrived in Williamsburg late morning and hit the ground running!
Oh my goodness. We LOVED Colonial Williamsburg!
We had lots of "picnics" in our hotel room (sandwiches were our main staple for meals because #wearecheap- HA!) The kids LOVED the continental breakfast at the hotel and thought it was such a treat :) We spent 2 full days exploring Colonial Williamsburg during the day and then we headed to Christmas Town at night.
It was SUCH a fun and special trip.
We definitely had our fair share of "special" behavior...but I just feel like that is to be expected....kids are kids no matter where they are :)
We got home from our trip Friday afternoon and spent the weekend doing ALL the laundry, taking down our Christmas decorations, painting the kids' bathrooms (that was ALL Aaron- he is the real MVP), getting grocery shopping and meal prep done for the week...
....and now here we are.
Monday. Back at it.
A NEW YEAR.
Wow. What a wonderful Christmas break. Thank you for letting me re-live it one more time :)
I hope you had a beautiful Christmas holiday...and that even if it wasn't "perfect" (our's sure wasn't!), you still have fond memories of special moments that filled your heart with joy.
Okay friends. I will be back later this week with some fun "New Year" ramblings!
I love this time of year. Fresh slate. New planner.
Can't wait to talk about ALL New Year things!
Hope you have the BEST day!
What a great Christmas you all had! And what a fun trip you took!! =)

ReplyDeleteWhat a great Christmas and that trip looks like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteKung Fu Panda is a family favorite here! Your Christmas trip looks like so much fun! Happy 2020!
ReplyDeleteYour holiday looks like so much fun, and you sure got some great family photos. I'm sorry that Aaron had to work so much, but your good attitude about it probably makes it easier on him. We loved Colonial Williamsburg, and I bet Busch Gardens was gorgeous for Christmas. Happy New Year! Thanks for linking up with Hello Monday! Tanya - The Other Side of the Road
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet Christmas break! You packed in a lot of family fun. That's awesome that your brother was able to join you for Christmas. I'm sure Aaron being on call while the kids were off for a long time required some super mom powers to kick in. I loved seeing your crew in matching pjs, your Christmas Eve family picture turned out great and my kids would love going on a late night ice cream run. Happy New Year to you and your family!
