Friday Favorites!

Friday, July 21, 2017

Hi friends!! Happy Friday!

How has your week been?? I sure hope it's been a great one!!
It's been a fun, busy, HOT week at our house...we basically have been living at the pool!

Time for some FAVORITES from this past week!

//ONE//
Going to the library is one of our FAVORITE activities. The kids have so much fun looking up books and checking them out. Whenever Celine finds a books she wants to check out- she asks me if she can "buy it?" SO.STINKING.CUTE.
Anyway- the other day- I was walking around the library making sure the kids were all ok...and this is what I saw. Big sister reading to her little brother.
SO SWEET!
 //TWO//
First- please note my crazy, frizzy hair. WHOA. HA!
More importantly- please look at my precious baby. Marshall will be 15 months old at the end of this month and I just can't handle him. He is giving hugs and kisses when we ask for them and signing "more" and "all done." He is an absolute JOY. So thankful for this precious baby boy!
 //THREE//
Speaking of precious boys- look at my James. Looks REAL happy, doesn't he?!? HA!
I had a coupon to Sports Clips and he was in desperate need of a haircut, so last Saturday afternoon, while Aaron was working, the kids and I went to get James a fresh new cut. I got all the kids slushies from Sonic and was just really feeling like on was on top of my mom game. Um yeah. That lasted about 2.2 seconds- because upon walking into the salon James started FREAKING out, threw his slushy, it exploded everywhere AND Cora set her slushy down to go use the restroom and when she came back her's had leaked onto the floor. I used a million baby wipes to clean everything up and the crisis was averted ;)
I had to sit in the chair with James- but we finally got his hair cut and now he looks like such a BIG boy.
LOVE this wild, ornery boy SO much.
 //FOUR//
Sometimes you forget your wallet at the library check out desk and you take your daughters in their jammies to go pick it up and then decide the best way to end a crazy day is by getting 1/2 price milkshakes at Sonic ;)
Hands down one of my FAVORITE moments of this week.
I treasure these little girls SO MUCH and can only hope and pray 10 years from now, they still want to run out with their mama on a random Thursday night to go get milkshakes.

P.S. If you are a peanut butter fan- try the peanut butter oreo shake from Sonic- it is CRAZY good!
//FIVE//
Tomorrow we are headed to the beach for a day trip and we are SO EXCITED!!
We are meeting my brother, sister-in-law and my niece and nephew there- which is equally amazing. To be close enough to the beach to make a day trip there- and to be close enough to family to meet up with them?!?! It just makes my heart REALLY happy.
Hope you all have the BEST day and a WONDERFUL weekend!

Recipe Club: Meatball Subs!

Wednesday, July 19, 2017

Hi!! Happy Wednesday!!
Is it me or is this week flying by??

So happy to be joining my girls Johannah and Heather for their monthly Recipe Club link up today!!
We had meatball subs for dinner last night- so I thought I would share with you how I make them! This is such an EASY, yummy dinner- and one of the few meals my WHOLE family will eat!

Okay- these are the ingredients needed for my meatball subs. I got everything from Aldi- and with me rounding up the prices of each item and including tax- this all cost right around $9.00!

You will need some:
1 pound of Ground turkey or ground beef- whatever you like to use to make meatballs
Sliced mozzarella cheese (provolone and muenster also work great!)
Jar of your favorite spaghetti sauce
Deli rolls- or you could use french bread- any kind of bread that is sturdy and will hold up well :)
 First- I make my meatballs. I don't follow a recipe- I just add an egg, some salt, pepper, garlic powder and Italian seasoning, a little water and for this batch of meatballs- I had some ritz crackers- so I crumbled up about 5 of those. I bake the meatballs at 425 degrees and it takes them about 15 minutes to cook.
Here's a TOP rated turkey meatball recipe if you need one!

Then- when they come out of the oven- I dump the jar of sauce over them!
 I almost always make my meatballs ahead of time- it makes dinner SO easy!
Once it's dinner time- I warm up the meatballs and sauce in the microwave and start making the "cheesy" rolls!

I butter the rolls very lightly, then cover them in mozzarella cheese. I pop the rolls in the oven at 450 degrees for about 8-10 minutes until the cheese is melted and getting bubbly :)
 Once the meatballs are heated through and the cheese is melted on the rolls, I assemble the sandwiches and then pop them back in the oven for just a couple of minutes to get a little "crisp" on the top of the roll.

Here's my husband's plate with the finished product!
We had green beans alongside our subs- but a tossed salad or any other green veggie would be delicious too!
 Here's what my 5 kiddos' plates look liked!
James got a tiny portion of sandwich and some plain meatball- I wasn't sure what he would like- but he ended up eating it all- SCORE!
This meal is perfect for Marshall- I just give him bite size pieces of meatball and cheese! He gobbled it right up!
And the girls got subs! My girls can be SOOOOO picky- and they always enjoy this meal- which is such a nice departure from the usual- "this is GROSS." HA!
 And for me- here's what my plate looked like! I could have had a roll- but I didn't feel like spending Smart points on it (for those of you who don't know- I am a lifetime member of Weight Watchers- so I keep track of daily Smartpoints!)
I had 6 ounces of meatballs with some sauce, a spinach salad with light honey mustard dressing and green beans for 9 Smart points!
(I wish I had some spaghetti squash on hand- because that would have been SO yummy with my meatballs!)
I just love this easy meal for so many reasons- but here's a few:
- you can make ahead the meatballs whenever it's convenient for you!
- make a double batch and pop the other portion in the freezer for spaghetti and meatballs!
- it's an inexpensive but very tasty and satisfying meal!
- it's a meal that can be served several different ways
- if you make the meatballs ahead of time- it's a meal that comes together VERY quickly at dinner time!

Simple. Easy. NO FUSS. My kind of meal!! :)

Hope you have the BEST day!

Tuesday Talk!

Tuesday, July 18, 2017

Hi friends!! Happy Tuesday!

Soooo....I have a question for you today!

As I was headed to the gym this morning, I was thinking about how late I was up last night...and how early it was as I thought about how much I would rather be sipping a cup of coffee than getting on a treadmill ;)

Then, I started to think- am I what you would consider a "night owl" or an "early bird?"
Yes. These are the deep thoughts that run through my mind at 5:30 am.
HA!

Naturally, as I was pondering these deep thoughts, I started wondering about all of you and what you would consider yourself- a night owl? an early bird? neither??

I think I am a mix of both.
Especially since we have moved, I have been staying up pretty late. I usually go to bed between 10:30 (that's "early") and 12:30. I am up NO later than 5:45- but most days I am pouring my first cup of coffee by 5:15 am.

And you know what? Even with me staying up late-ish and waking up fairly early....I still don't feel like there are enough hours in the day to get everything done!
Please tell me I am not the only one who feels this way?!?!

But you know what? It's all good :) Because what needs to get done- always does get done...and what doesn't...goes on my list for the next day. Rinse, wash, repeat ;)
Ok- so now it's your turn- when are your best "working" hours?

Somedays- I wish I could pull an all nighter like I used to in graduate school...but also feel totally rested when morning comes around. I know. I am living in a dream world. HA!

Hope you have the BEST day!

Friday Favorites!

Friday, July 14, 2017

Hi friends!!! Happy Friday!!
Wow. What a week! It has been quite a full week for us...it just feels like we have been ON.THE.GO.
Aaron is on call this weekend...so the kids and I are flying solo...I think there might have to be a Saturday morning cartoon marathon in our future!! HA!

Okay- time to share some FAVORITES of mine from this past week!

//ONE//
Last week, we celebrated James' 3rd birthday!!! We had such a fun day and I have decided that 3 year birthdays might be my most FAVORITE. All James wanted was a chocolate cake with sprinkles and a Maui hook. Both of those dreams came true and he was the happiest little boy you have ever seen!
James asked to have a Bob the Builder party...but wouldn't you know it- it is almost next to IMPOSSIBLE to find any Bob the Builder items (without paying an astronomical price for them)!! I contacted my girl Kristen- she has an Etsy shop called KrittersKreations10- and I told her what I was looking for in a birthday shirt for James and she custom designed him this ADORABLE shirt!! I get all of the kids' birthday shirts and special occasion shirts made by Kristen. Her prices are incredibly reasonable, the quality of her work and shirts are AWESOME and she is super fast. LOVE her!!
//TWO//
The kids and I were out and about this week and we were at a stoplight when I looked over and saw this sign.
"God alters Lives." He sure does!!!
//THREE//
Yesterday, I shared about my FAVORITE little black dress I got at Walmart. It is currently on clearance for FIVE DOLLARS. You need to get one!!! It is so comfy, extremely flattering and can be worn super casually or dressed up. You can check out the post HERE!

//FOUR//
It was Cow Appreciation Day at Chick-fil-A on Tuesday and you can bet we all put on our cow themed outfits to get some free dinner!! We have been going to Cow Appreciation Day since Charlotte was a baby!! It's totally a tradition for us and we always have so much fun. Thank you Chick-fil-A for a FREE dinner for this big family of 7 and for a night off of cooking and cleaning (that's honestly the BEST part about it)!!
//FIVE//
We were at the library last week and got caught in a TORRENTIAL downpour. I was totally soaked by the time I got all the kids loaded in the car. Wouldn't you know it, as we were pulling out of the parking lot...the rain stopped and the sun started shining again. I was, "REALLY???" HA!
Anyway...we were driving home and the girls starting squealing because they saw a rainbow. THEN- we pulled up into our driveway and saw this!! A DOUBLE rainbow. Of course, the picture doesn't do it justice- it was so beautiful and literally arched over the field that is in our backyard.
I LOVE rainbows...they are such a symbol of HOPE!
Hope you have a fun weekend ahead of you!!
I just wanted to thank all of you who have commented and been so kind and encouraging about me being "back to blogging." It was a REALLY nice break- I needed to "check out" so I could focus on my family and getting us settled in our new home- but it is so fun to be back and sharing ALL.THE.RANDOM.THINGS.
As always, your kindness and support blows me away!! THANK YOU!

Hope you have the BEST day!

Weekly Walmart Find: BEST Summer Black Dress EVER!

Thursday, July 13, 2017

Hey friends!! Happy Thursday!!
This week has felt fast and slow at the same time. Not sure if that makes any sense at all...?!?! But I know I can't be the only gal who feels this way! HA!

Okay...sooooo...while everyone else is blasting your feeds with all the BEST deals to be had at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale...I have a $5 dress from Walmart to share with you today!
Big surprise, right?? HA!

I bought this Faded Glory Easy Knit Shirred "Flip Flop" Dress from Walmart a couple months ago- but just last week, finally wore it for the FIRST time! I am almost always a shorts and tank top or t-shirt kind of gal...but I have been wearing sundresses more since moving down to the land of 1,000% humidity ;)

This dress is SO cute, ridiculously comfortable and extremely flattering.
You can wear a regular bra with it and it's not super short- so no worries if you have to bend down to pick up your son's sippy cup he keeps dropping, ON PURPOSE, for the 100th time, while you/re strolling through Walmart (or wherever else you like to shop :)- or maybe that's just MY son?!?! HA!
I have this dress in black and bought it at full price ($9.97) which was still crazy inexpensive- but guess what?? It's on sale for FIVE DOLLARS right now on Walmart.com!!
And they have it in black and 3 super fun patterns- almost all sizes in each color/pattern are available.

How cute will this be with wedges and a fun yellow or hot pink necklace paired with it??
I also love that this is a perfect dress to transition into the fall with...just add a denim jacket or a cute cardigan and you are good to go!
As most of you know- I am kind of allergic to taking "selfies" of myself...so I had my precious Cora Maye get in this picture with me so I wouldn't be AS awkward as I usually am. HA!
Anyway- how cute is this dress??
I am wearing it SUPER casually- but it could easily be dressed up with some fancier sandals and some fun jewelry!
And here's a close up of the "shirred" part of the dress. It's just the tiniest bit of gathering around the waistline- and it has such a slimming effect!! Gotta love that, right!?!
I haven't checked my (new) local Walmart to see if they still have this dress in stock- so you might look the next time you are at your Walmart to see if your store carries it!

No guarantees though that it will be on sale for $5 like it is on Walmart.com right now!
I would go order one in your size ASAP- and if for some reason you don't love it as much as I do- just take it back to your Walmart store! SO EASY!
P.S. To save on shipping costs- if you are only ordering the dress- have it shipped to your local store and shipping is free!

Hope you have the BEST day!

10 Reasons I am loving the South!

Tuesday, July 11, 2017

Hi friends!! Happy Tuesday!!

So- we have only lived in North Carolina for a little over 2 weeks now...but it sure feels like we've been here a lot longer!!

Aaron and I were just talking the other day about how "at home" we already feel in Greenville and how much we both just LOVE living in the South!
So- because I love to make lists (like I really love them. Please tell me I am not the only one obsessed with making lists! HA!) - I thought I'd share my 10 reasons why I am loving living in the South!

1. Everyone is SO nice!! Like- SO SO nice! It's so refreshing!

2. Southern accents. I can't get enough of them!

3. I am not sure if this is a Greenville "thing" or a Southern thing- but almost every grocery store I have been to has parking reserved at the front, especially for our Veterans! AMAZING!

4. My girls aren't the only ones wearing giant hair bows!!

5. Everyone says "yes ma'am" and "no sir."

6. We have a REAL Belk store in town! I LOVE Belk's line of children clothing- but I always bought it online since they are nowhere to be found in the "North."

7. People are so open to having random conversations...which is so great for this girl that tends to just ramble on to anyone she meets. HA!

8. It's SO HOT here. And I love it. Give me hot and sweaty any day over being freezing!

9. Did I mention how much I love everyone's accents here?? I seriously can't get enough of them!! Would it be weird if I started talking with a Southern accent??!?

10. Barbecue. It's a SERIOUS thing here and we love it. We've only been to one local barbecue restaurant so far...and I can't wait to try out more!
Hope you have the BEST day!

Hello From North Carolina!!!

Monday, July 10, 2017

Friends!!! Hello from North Carolina!!

It's been a WHOLE MONTH since I last posted!!! AAHHHHH!!!
To be completely honest- it does not feel like a whole month has passed...life has been a whirlwind lately and time has just been flying by!!
Here's a little recap of what life has looked like for us lately!
- We spent a week packing up the biggest moving truck and trailer U-Haul had available and left Indiana at 4 am on June 22 to make the long trek to North Carolina!
- We made it safely (seriously SO thankful for uneventful travels!!) to Raleigh and stayed overnight at my brother and sister-in-law's house!
- The next morning, Aaron, the boys and I headed out bright and early to drive to Greenville!!!
We showed up at our house at 9 am for our final walk through (and for my FIRST time seeing the house) and then headed over to a law firm to close on our house about and hour later!!
- After we closed, we went out to lunch to celebrate and then came home and this was staring at us. HA!. It was time to get busy unloading our massive moving truck!!
- We got our trailer unloaded Friday afternoon. Saturday morning, we were up before 6 am- and had our truck unloaded by 11:30 am. We dropped off our moving truck and when we got back to our house- my brother, sister-in-law, their kids and our girls showed up! It was so fun showing the girls their new house...they absolutely LOVED it!
The past couple of weeks have been full of so many HIGHS and some lows!

We LOVE our house. Absolutely love it!!
Greenville is adorable and we already feel SO at home here!
Moving and unpacking with 5 kids under the age of 8 is pretty INSANE.
I definitely had some moments where I was not the nicest mommy....thankfully- popsicles and trips to the pool can smooth over even the biggest tantrum thrown by mommy. HA!

We are just SO thankful for the way everything worked out. Moving really isn't for the faint of heart- especially when you are doing it on your own! ;)
We are so happy to be settling into our new house, exploring our new town and just finding our groove!
Hope you have the BEST day and I am so happy to be back to my little, teeny-tiny corner of the internet!!!

Tuesday Talk: Still Here!! :)

Tuesday, June 13, 2017

Hi friends!!

How are you???

I am still here!! HA!
It has just been a little crazy lately....we move in NINE DAYS!!!

So- here's what's been going on the last couple of weeks...

2 weekends ago- we went to visit my mom and dad for the last time before we move to North Carolina. We had such a fun time and of course, it was very bittersweet! We know we will see my parents again- hopefully sooner rather than later- but it won't be the same as being 3.5 hours away from them like we are now!
Last week- the girls had a going away party and we had 12 girls over at our house for an afternoon of jumping on the trampoline, playing in the back yard splash pool and they got to make epic ice cream sundaes ;)
It was a super fun afternoon and the girls LOVED having their friends over to play one last time. I was barely standing by the time they all left. HA!
Aaron left last Friday for a super quick trip to Greenville to check on our house and bring a load of stuff down. We are moving ourselves- and all of our things won't fit in our U-Haul moving truck. So he rented a big cargo van, packed EVERY SQUARE INCH of it and rented a storage unit close to our new house for a month. Not the most ideal situation- but it's what had to be done!
He sent me all sorts of pictures when he was at our new house and OMG. It's SOOO pretty!!!!
(that little red heart is covering up our house number :)
He said everything looks wonderful and that I am just going to love it!! I seriously can't wait to get there and see it all in person!!
Here's a sneak peek of our kitchen....our oven/microwave still need to be installed (that's what you see on the left side of the picture) as well as our refrigerator....but isn't it FABULOUS?? I can't believe that's my kitchen!! HA!
While Aaron was in North Carolina, the kids and I traveled to Southern Illinois on Saturday to visit my sister, her husband and my niece and nephew! It was a big trip to take with the kids by myself- with potty breaks- it's a solid 5.5 hour trip. But we made it! And we had such a great time! We stayed in a hotel and my niece and nephew spent the night with us. So- I had 7 kids in a hotel room with me- and you know what- they did SO great! We enjoyed a super yummy breakfast at the hotel on Sunday morning, then after dropping my niece and nephew back off at their house- we started our trek home. The kids did awesome in the car and I was just SO proud of them!
(FYI: If you are traveling through Southern Illinois- I can't recommend the Holiday Inn Express in Marion, Illinois enough. It was EXTREMELY clean, the staff is amazing and the breakfast they provided is AMAZING! Highly recommend!!)

On our way home- we stopped off to use the restroom at a random gas station and realized we were in Marshall, Indiana!
It was SO bright outside- so the kids could barely open their eyes- but I had to document where we were in honor of our precious little Marshall! :)
And now we have officially started our moving countdown :)
The thing is- despite our house being in complete shambles, moving boxes everywhere and SO not organized...completely opposite of how I normally keep my house- life is just moving right along. It has to when you have 5 little people to take care of every day! Aaron is still working (his residency graduation dinner is this Friday!!! And his last day is next Tuesday!!) and the kids and I are spending our days at the pool, going to the gym, taking trips to the library and just having fun! Boxes are getting packed at night once they are all in bed :) It's really the only time of day we can get any work done :)

So...that's what we have been up to lately!! Life is full, crazy and so good!

What's been going on with you??
Tell me! I would love to know!! :)
