Tuesday Talk!
Hi friends!! Happy Tuesday!
I hope your week is off to a great start!
My girls are in their last full week of school and then next week they only go on Tuesday and a 1/2 day on Wednesday!! Then we are officially on SUMMER BREAK!!
We are so excited for a slower pace, not having to rush out the door every morning, and just having a more flexible schedule!
With that being said, I have found as my girls have gotten older, while it's nice to not have every.single.thing. planned out- they really do better when they know the "plan" for the day.
So even in the summer- we follow a routine and make sure our calendar is filled with activities- even if it's as simple as "crafting" or "baking."
I have found that when I just kind of leave our days wide open without any sort of structure is when I see start to see SUPER SPECIAL behavior start to happen. HA!
I have shared this chalkboard we keep up in our kitchen will all of you before- but this is one really BIG thing (even though it's really not a big deal at all) that helps my girls feel like they are in the "know." One of my daughters, especially, always wants to know what we are eating next- so having our menu written down is SO helpful!
I also write down major (I use that term SUPER loosely) events that are happening during the week. We also have a daily schedule we follow- and we keep that in a different place.
The reason I wanted to share a little bit more about my menu/schedule board today is because I just got these AMAZING chalkboard markers from Amazon - and I LOVE them!!
I was using just a plain white chalkboard marker I picked up at Walmart (it worked great!) but was looking for something a little more fun to make our board more cheerful. After doing a quick search on Amazon, I found these Chalktastic markers and immediately put them in my cart. They are currently on sale for almost 50% off- which makes them an incredible deal! And if you have a Prime membership- you can have them in 2 days!
I write out our menu/schedule every Sunday night after the kids have gone to bed and when the girls came down for breakfast yesterday morning and saw that I wrote in NEW FUN COLORS they were so excited :)
I love finding little ways to make my girls smile! :)
Just curious- once the girls are out of school next week, we will create our summer daily "schedule." It's nothing you probably haven't seen before or most likely very similar to what you do at your own house- but would you be interested in me sharing it?
Hope you have the BEST day!!

I absolutely LOVE that chalkboard! I would love to have one like that in my kitchen. Aren't chalkmarkers fun! Those are all great colors too =)
ReplyDeleteHave a great Tuesday Friend!
I would love to see your summer routine. I just made a summer "chore" list and plan on posting soon. Thanks for posting about the chalk markers. They look so fun, and I think I'll get some. I saw on the reviews you can also use them for writing on glass. We like to decorate the car when we take the kids (now just Jack) to camp. Do you have any trouble erasing them from the chalkboard?
ReplyDeleteI love seeing how others schedule and shape their days. I love how you post the days events. I find that if my days are "too open" in the summer that my kiddos fight. Even though we are on summer break, I try to be really intentional with our schedule and we stick to a routine. Some days it does get thrown out the window! I hope you kiddos have the best last few days of school!
ReplyDeleteLove that chalkboard. Thanks so much for sharing! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the chalkboard and the colorful markers. Great idea! Thanks for sharing and hosting the link-up!

ReplyDeleteThat's so exciting! I hope you have a great Summer Break! I will check out those chalkboard markers. I need some good ones!
ReplyDeleteBetween you and Beth, I want to go out and buy a big ole chalkboard! I would love to see your summer routine, your aldi shopping list, and your weight watchers story! I just signed up and so far I'm not doing so well! EEK!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing those markers! I've always wanted to get some chalkboard markers, but haven't found any that were affordable + good reviews. I am putting those on my wish list along with your giant chalkboard. I'm a schedule girl so I'd love having that hanging up with all the information on it. Olive is just starting to ask about days of the week and when activities happen. I bet she'd love something visual like this. I'd love to see your summer routine because I'm just starting to think about ours.
