Show and Tell Tuesday!

Hi! Happy Tuesday!  We are officially on summer break at our house and we are THRILLED about it!! I am SO thankful my oldest daughter had such a wonderful year in kindergarten!  Now, time for a SUPER fun summer!

Today, I am linking up with Andrea for her Show and Tell Tuesdays link up!  Today's topic is "What I wanted to be when I grow up!"

So- I am all grown up (which I really still can't believe- HA!) and I am totally living "What I wanted to be when I grown up!"  What I have always wanted to be and thanks to the immense blessings God has given me, is a mommy!  On my first date with with my husband, he asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up- and I immediately said, "A mom."  He replied, "That's a perfect answer."
Being a mother is everything I thought it would be and MUCH MUCH more than I could have ever imagined.  Even on the worst, messiest, hardest day- I still feel like I am living a dream being a mom to my four precious babies!

Besides wanting to be a mommy, I always knew I wanted a job working with children.  For awhile I thought I would become a teacher, but after a conversation with my high school principal, I decided to pursue a career as a speech-language pathologist!  I started college with a declared major of Communication Disorders and Sciences and then went onto to get my master's degree in Clinical Speech-Language Pathology.  I LOVE my job as a speech therapist!  I have worked in so many wonderful settings and in my almost 11 years of being a SLP- I can truly say I have had my dream job!  When I lived in Austin, Texas, I first worked  in a public school for two years, then I got a job working in a pediatric rehabilitation office.  I ABSOLUTELY loved everyone I worked with, my boss was an incredible teacher and amazing person and if we ever moved back to Austin, I would be working there again in a heart beat!

Since I had my 4th baby last July, I have transitioned from working part time to being an official stay at home momma :)  I plan to go back to work part time once my precious James starts preschool in a few years.

Even though I totally am "What I wanted to be when I grow up," I am always thinking about other jobs/careers that I know I would love!

Here are a few:
  • a fitness class instructor- I love working out and really enjoy motivating others- I think I would have a blast teaching a few classes!
  • a nurse!! As much as I love my job as a SLP, I really wish I was a nurse!! I really love the flexibility that you can have with a nurse's schedule and love taking care of people and educating patients/family members/caregivers.  I am really hoping one of our kids wants to go into nursing- it is such a wonderful profession!
  • a residency coordinator at a medical school....I really enjoy being in work settings that are healthcare related.  I love being organized, making contacts with a lot of different people and helping people- I really think I would enjoy this type of job!
  • a team member at Trader Joes!  Oh my gosh- doesn't everyone you see working at Trader Joes seem SO happy??? I totally would love to work there!! Such a cool, fun atmosphere and an awesome work culture!
Now your turn...What do you want to be when you grow up??

Hope you have a WONDERFUL day!!
