Friday Favorites!!

Hi!!
Happy Friday!! We are excited for the weekend...because the girls get Monday off of school! YAY! Three day weekends are THE BEST.
Aaron will be working all next weekend and then traveling- so our goal over the next couple days is to really get some good cleaning and organizing done. Which actually sounds like a lot of fun to this "Type A-everything has a place and I love it when my house is clean" momma! :)

Hope you have had a great week!!!
Here's my FAVORITES from this past week!

ONE
A couple months ago when my parents were visiting, my mom and I took a little trip to Bath and Body Works and she treated me to one of their 3 wick candles. For all of December I have been burning my evergreen scented candles and just this past week when we got our first snowfall, I decided to light my sparkling icicles candle from Bath and Body Works. Tell me I am not the only one who hoards and saves candles?!? HA!
Anyway- oh my gosh- it smells SO GOOD!! Seriously- so fresh- but definitely still warm and wintery at the same time. Does that make any sense?! HA! They are sold out online- but if you see any if you are in Bath and Body Works- you should pick one up!!

TWO
Speaking of snow, the weather was absolutely HORRIBLE here on Tuesday morning. It usually takes me 17 minutes to get my girls to school- it took us 45 minutes to get there and it was just awful. It was snowy, freezing, the roads weren't being plowed and everyone was going about 25 MPH. Needless to say, I kept my youngest daughter home from preschool that day because I was NOT going to be making an extra trip up to school to pick her up.
So Celine stayed home with James and I and we had SO much fun! We baked sugar cookies and I just LOVED our unexpected time together!!

THREE
Last night, my oldest daughter, Charlotte took me out on a date to Arby's :)  She earned a free kids meal and a milkshake for getting good grades (WAY TO GO CHARLOTTE!) and she invited me to come "join her." HA! We had the best time together and I am not going to lie- Arby's curly fries were the highlight of my meal!! They are SO good!!
After dinner, we ran over to Walmart to pick up a few things and we held hands the whole time and I felt like my heart was just going to burst :)
I am one blessed mommy and am so thankful for my Charlotte!!!

FOUR
So- with this crazy cold winter weather, my skin is a wreck. I have had horrible eczema my whole life and it gets really bad in the winter time. I just recently switched to using this Ultra Gentle daily cleanser from Neutrogena and I am really loving it! It smells WONDERFUL and I feel like it really cleans my face without irritating it. I usually start using Cetaphil when my skin gets really bad- but I thought I would try this cleanser instead and I am SO happy I did!!
FIVE
Okay- I don't have a 5th favorite because I NEED YOUR HELP!!
So like I mentioned above, my skin is a complete wreck right now and I feel like no matter what I do- it NEVER feels hydrated and moisturized enough!!
All of my face creams seem to irritate the delicate skin around and under my eyes and my face is SO red, irritated and blotchy! Thank goodness for foundation and powder :)
Anyway- I need your recommendations for your FAVORITE FACE CREAM. I need it to be ultra gentle, highly moisturizing and I would say preferably without SPF in it- just because I think that might be an irritating component for my face right now.
And here's the kicker- I need it to be in the $10-$12 range. Can you help me??
Seriously- I am so desperate! Last night after I washed my face and put on my moisturizer, it still felt like my skin was being stretched to the max so I put some Aquaphor on the extra dry places!
Okay- I am counting on all of you fabulous ladies and can't wait to hear your suggestions!!
THANK YOU!! :)

Hope you have the BEST day and a wonderful weekend!!

  1. What a special date! One on one time with your children is so, so important. I love it when Cash & I are able to sneak away to run errands just the two of us. It's refreshing to get that one on one time with him. Happy weekend!

  2. I use the Neutrogena moisturizer and like it. I don't know if that's what you're looking for, or if you're wanting something heavier?

  4. I definitely hoard candles too and only burn when I feel like "it's time!" My very favorite is fresh mint and lemon from BBW for the spring. In the fall and for Christmas I'm a Yankee Candle girl. :) Wish I could help you on the moisturizers but I literally have the oiliest skin so I can't even use moisturizer- I have to use a gel lotion!

  5. My son has super dry skin (I have oily...so I can't try this on myself) but for him I use good old fashioned Vaseline. His doctor said thats the most hypoallergenic product you can buy because "no one" is allergic to patroleum jelly.

  6. In addition to facial wash, cetaphil makes a moisturizer. I use it and it's great on my face. I need something for my arms and legs... They are a mess and nothing is working.

  7. Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion is the only way to go. A little pricey but available on Amazon. It is a lightweight moisturizer but is heavy duty at getting your skin back in shape. I discovered it a year ago and it changed my eczema ridden life.

  8. I live in Ohio and have very dry skin. I purchase my skin care products from amishcountryessentials.com. It's a family owned business in Berlin, Ohio. I mostly use their soap and body lotions, however, I checked their web site, and they carry products for the face too. I am not employed by this business nor do I own the business. I'm just a happy customer, and you mentioned you were desperate for ideas so I thought I'd share. I found your blog through the Friday Favorites link-up with Momfessionals. Ruth from Columbus Ohio

  9. I love cleaning and organizing too! It's the best!!! Your girls are so cute and I love that you had a "date" with them! As for dry/sensitive skin concerns, I've been using the Etude House Moistfull Collagen Lotion and I love it so far. It isn't super heavy yet does a great job of moisturizing for me and hasn't irritated my skin. If I skip a day, I definitely notice it! Unfortunately, you'd probably have to order it online (I got mine from Amazon), as it is a Korean brand, but you should be able to find it for $15 or less.

    1. Hi Jess! Thank you for stopping by and commenting!! I am so intrigued by your moisturizer suggestion! I am definitely going to look it up on Amazon! Gotta love Prime :) I got some Cetaphil moisturizer over the weekend and so far it is working great- but I will definitely keep the Etude brand in mind for the future!!

  11. Such sweet time with your girls - and that picture of Celine and her cookies is TOO MUCH!! Not an expert on skincare - but have you tried the standard Oil of Olay moisturizer? It works pretty well for me!

  12. I also love candles, and have a shelf in a kitchen cabinet where I hoard them. I stock up when BBW has them on sale for $12. Concerning the dry skin, I recently had a bout of dry skin and it seemed like Aquafor at night was the only thing that helped out. Usually, I have normal skin so this was new for me. I have heard that dermatologists recommend the brand Cerave. And maybe Eucerin has a facial line of products? Have a good weekend.

  16. Hi Justine ! This is Jennifer Klemme--remember me--your SLP grad student from when you were in Brunswick? So glad I found you.. I am doing great--graduated and now work at Medina City Schools with preschoolers and love working with them so much! Just wanted to reply to your skin cream dilemma- I use Paula's Choice products (get them online) and love them..don't think you will find a cream for $10-12 but she only formulates products which are scientifically proven to work for certain dermatological conditions. I have adult acne and her products have worked amazingly well for me , but she has a full range of products for most all skin issues. Hope you and your growing family are well!

  17. The Body Shop's Vitamin E collection is AMAZING! I have super sensitive skin and have found the Vitamin E day and night creams to work wonders for me. They are around $17 I think, but The Body Shop ALWAYS has 40% off sales and you can also get them at Ulta with their coupons which makes them around $10-12 :)
