Thursday Confession Session!

Hi!! Happy Thursday!!
How has your week been??

I have been hanging on by a thread if you want to the know the truth- HA!
That's being a little dramatic...HA! But- the night we got back from our vacation (July 3), I started having that yucky, sick feeling in my throat....which ended up turning into a full blown nasty cold...which this past Monday turned into something viral (I think :) because I have had a fever and chills and felt like crap for the past 3 days. BLAH. Thank goodness for Tylenol- that is the only way I have been able to keep up with life and the kids!!
Anyway...fingers crossed today is better. Every morning I have been waking up actually feeling ok...but a couple hours into me being awake- the cold/hot/chills thing starts up again.
I am going to stay positive though and believe that part of this nasty YUCKINESS that I caught is OVER! :)

So yeah- I had a fun little Weekly Walmart Finds post planned for yesterday...but that didn't happen :)
It feels good to be back today, linking up with Leigh for Thursday Confessions!

Today's "confession session" is more of a "me rambling on about random stuff"....

//1// Planning/setting up for a garage sale is not for the faint of heart. Especially when your sick and have a handful of kids- one of them being an infant :)

We have SOOOO many clothes to sell- I so wish all of you who are pregnant or have young babies could come to our sale because you would just go crazy with all the cute stuff we have!! Or maybe I just think are stuff is cute and it's not really?? HA!
Anyway- we're also selling all of my maternity clothes- which are in MINT condition and A LOT of perfect condition puzzle/Melissa and Doug sets. Along with a bunch of other random stuff! Aaron is AMAZING and spent about 4 hours yesterday, in between getting off work for the day and having to head back for a night meeting, setting the majority of the stuff up- so I could rest. He's the best :)
The forecast keeps looking really good- if you don't mind- send some positive sunshine vibes our way on Friday morning!! :)
*And I really don't have a good idea of who reads my blog- but if you are in the Indianapolis area and want to come to our garage sale- just email me and I will give you our address! :)

//2// I mentioned last week that my kids were in the middle of a vacation detox and it WASN'T pretty. HA! Well...it is definitely not ALL sunshine, rainbows and unicorns over here- but I am happy to report we seem to have found our groove again. And seriously- please know I have got some STRONG willed children- a couple of whom challenge me GREATLY on a daily basis :)
Anyway- what did the trick for the girls was me creating a daily and weekly schedule for them. They LOVE to know what is going on EVERY minute of the day and what we are doing for the day and what we are eating for every meal- so I laid it out for them. Our daily schedule has HELPED so much when they are, what I like to call "slinking" around the house...kind of whine/moaning...wondering what to do with themselves. I will say, "What does your schedule say you should be doing right now?" They go check and about 85% of the time they are able to get themselves back on track.

I have our weekly schedule, menu and bible verse/ "faith focus" for the week on a chalkboard- because that changes every week :)
This is our daily schedule....and yes- it is pretty much planned out hour by hour. But my girls NEEDED this kind of structure. I know they love being out of school- but I think the lack of predictability and knowing what should happen "next" was affecting their behavior- and not in a good way :) I know being this "scheduled" isn't for every family- but it has been working great for our's!

//3// Sooo...I was thinking...I love reading blogs that make me feel like I am "friends" with that person and they write in such a way that it feels like we are texting back and forth or chatting while our kids play in the back yard together- am I weird?? Anyway- I hope you have some sense of that feeling when you read my blog! My question is- are there any topics you would be interested in me writing about?? I always have LOTS of random ideas floating in my head- but a lot of them I don't write about because I don't think anyone else will find them that interesting. So tell me- what do you find interesting/entertaining to talk about with your friends/mom/sister/hubby/significant other/whoever you talk to on a regular basis! HA!
Let me know your thoughts!! :)

Okay- I think I have about 15-30 minutes left before Mr. Marshall decides to wake up for his next feeding...so I am going to sip some coffee...say a prayer for a fever-less day and will be hoping all of you have a wonderful day!!
Even if it seems like nothing is going right in your day- I challenge you to find 5 things to be grateful for in the midst of all the yuck. There's ALWAYS something to be thankful for! :)
Hope you have the BEST day!

Also linking up with Annie and Natalie today!!

  5. I hope you feel better soon! That is just the worst when you feel rotten, but have to keep up with the kids and daily routine. I love your chalkboard and daily schedule. We don't have a formal schedule now that they are older, but I still redirect them a lot so they don't stay in their rooms all day playing electronics! Hope you feel better!

  9. I hope you feel better soon!! I wish I could come shop your maternity clothes! We are having our fourth and this is the first time I'm due in winter - I've always had summer babies. I cannot wait to get rid of baby clothes as we go through them with this one - so many bins saved over the past 10 years!! I'm sure you will feel amazing after the sale!
Love your daily/weekly schedule. When my boys were smaller they HAD to have expectations for what happened next. Luckily (for lazy me) they've gotten to be more go with the flow, but they still like a daily expectation (especially if errands are involved).

    1. UGH. Kristen!! I wish you could come to my garage sale too!! I have so many great Fall/Winter maternity clothes!!! And yes- it has been nice to know that when my youngest daughter grows out of a size- that I don't have to pack the bin away and save the clothes! And a schedule is the only way we are gonna get through the rest of this summer...my girls are so funny and check it every hour to make sure we are "on schedule." HA!

  10. I just found your blog recently and I would love to hear more about your Catholic faith. I'm Catholic and recently watched the movie Spotlight and it has me questioning the faith. I would also love to hear more about how you manage your time with 5 kids. I have 2 and it seems hard enough! :) Jen

    1. Hey Jen- that's a great topic- but one I would like to talk with you more about in a personal context- would you send me your email address?? And I can definitely talk more about how I manage my time with the kids- I have considered doing a "day in the life" post- but I just think- my life is REALLY boring and why would anyone want to read about it! HA!

  16. I love your schedule! My four year old thrives on routines. He goes to preschool three days a week, but is on summer break and has been all out of sorts. I really should do something like this with pictures instead of words, so he can follow along. You're exactly right...he's always wondering what's next! Thanks for sharing!
