Friday Favorites!
Happy Friday!! We have a special visitor coming to see us and the 4th of July is tomorrow! My girls are so excited about staying up extra late to watch the fireworks!!
How was your week? Did you do anything extra fun?
As usual, I am sharing some super random "happy" from our week...here we go!
ONE
The kids and I went to the Dollar Store to pick up some birthday decorations for James (his first birthday is next week!!) a couple days ago. While we were perusing the aisles, I saw these SUPER cute thank you cards- 10 cards for $1!!! I always like to have plenty of thank you cards on hand- so I snatched these up the minute I saw them! And to just give a quick public service announcement- writing a thank you note never goes out of style and is ALWAYS appreciated!! :)
TWO
My hair is getting all kinds of special from being in the pool so much. I know I should put a leave in conditioner in my hair before I swim laps...but I don't want to- HA! I found this spray at Ulta and I have been using it after I get out of the pool and shower. It smells SO good!! And it leaves my hair feeling conditioned and hydrated without feeling too soft and silky. Does that even make sense?? HA! It is definitely my new FAVORITE hair product!

The girls are on week 4 of swimming lessons and are doing SO awesome! Charlotte is able to swim 50 yards of freestyle and backstroke! Cora has started working on freestyle and can swim about 15 yards underwater without taking a breath! This is Celine's first time in swimming lessons and she is LOVING it. She "relaxed" all the way and did a great back float last week- her teacher was super proud! :)
A lot of people ask me how I take 4 kids to the pool by myself AND it not be a stressful experience- HA! All of my girls know the rules of the pool as far as where they are allowed to swim and play. They may not always be the best listeners out of the water- but they really do respect the boundaries in the pool. Charlotte and Cora have been in swimming lessons since they were 3 and as a result- they are great swimmers! Celine wears a puddle jumper and only plays on the pool steps in the shallow end. While I am not right by their side, since James prefers splashing and playing the in the baby pool, I am ALWAYS locating where each of the girls are and constantly counting that I see my 3 girls. I was a lifeguard and swim instructor for 8 years...I can't help but always be scanning the water!! HA!
Can you even stand it when little kids wear goggles?!? Totally a FAVORITE of mine!! :)
FOUR
Charlotte has all of my old school age chapter books on her book shelf (including about 50 Babysitter Club Books!! Do you remember those??) and earlier in the week she asked me which one of the books was a favorite of mine when I was her age. I picked Little House in the Prairie and Matilda. She then asked me if every night I could read her a chapter from Matilda until we finished it- UM YES PLEASE!! Reading to my kids is one of my FAVORITE things to do! I don't read to Charlotte as much as I used to because girlfriend is all about reading books on her own! I have loved our 10 minutes together, snuggled up on her bed, reading one of my childhood favorite books!
(And I had forgotten how FUNNY this book is!! Roald Dahl is such a great author!!)
FIVE
We are so looking forward to celebrating the 4th of July! It is one of those Holidays where there are no expectations- except to have FUN! I really appreciate those kinds of holidays :)
My depth of gratitude for all the service members in our military runs deep. We currently have someone in our family deployed overseas and another family member getting ready to begin a specialized training school for a branch of the military. We love these 2 men so much and are humbled by their service to our country!!
I hope you have an awesome 4th of July weekend!!
And if you see a person who is in the military this weekend, I encourage you to go up to them and say THANK YOU!!
Aww! You're kids are so cute with their goggles! Love the Dollar Store find! I'll have to swing by and pick some up too! Thanks for the info :)

Your kids are too cute & sooo many memories came flooding back at the mention of Roald Dahl (The BFG was my favorite of his!) & The Baby Sitters Club! I was a huge BSC fan lol :) Thank you for encouraging others to thank our military (military granddaughter, daughter, niece, cousin, wife & sister over here lol) & I'll be keeping your guys in my prayers!

ReplyDeleteThat leave in conditioner looks good! I may have to pick some up. We have been swimming a lot this Summer.
Have a great 4th!
Hi! Thanks for your sweet comment! Definitely try the conditioner- it is light and smells so pretty! Hope you are having a great weekend!
DeleteOh my gosh! Matilda! That brings back memories!!! And I can't wait to try that leave-in spray. I definitely need something like that. I've been using the "It's a 10" one but I think it makes my hair too soft.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recommendation and happy 4th!

Hi! Thanks for stopping by and commenting! Isn't Matilda the best book?? And I am so glad you understand what I mean about hair being too "soft!" HA! If you get the leave in conditioner from Ulta- don't forget to look up a coupon- I found one for 20% off and they just scanned my phone instead of me having to print off a paper copy! :)
