Thoughts For Thursday!

Hi!! How has your week been?? Any exciting, fun plans for the 4th of July weekend?
We are still kind of up in the air about what we will be doing to celebrate- but I am just happy that the forecast shows sunshine and NO rain for the next couple of days! :)

Yesterday, since it was the first of the month, several of my favorite bloggers posted their goals for the month...I don't know about you- but I love reading about other people's goals!! Often times, I will have a few of the same goals and I think it is so neat to see how we all lead such different lives, but there are also so many similarities between us all!

Anyway...I thought I would share a few of my personal goals for the month of July!

1) Read at least one book.  This seems like a pretty easy goal, doesn't it??  Unfortunately, when I get a free second here and there, throughout the day, I don't have a tendency to reach for a book.  I am ALWAYS finding something else to clean, organize or I just play around on the Internet.  I want to be more intentional with my "free" moments and dive into a good book!  So my action plan is to reach for my book instead of my phone or computer when I have 10-15 minutes free of time.  My two youngest take naps in the afternoon and my older girls have quiet time- so this would be a good time to read- even if it is only for a short period of time!  SO many people have given the book, Bread and Wine, rave reviews...I just got it from my library and read the first couple of pages of it last night while the kids were playing on the swing set after dinner...I can tell I am really going to like it!!

2) Complete 5 hours of continuing education courses.  To maintain my professional state license and my national professional accreditation, I need to have completed 18 hours of continuing education by the end of the year.  I do my CEU courses online, so they are always accessible to me- it is just a matter of sitting down and doing them!!  Again, the best time for me to do this is when my youngest kiddos are sleeping and my big girls are playing or watching a show.  Since there are 5 Fridays in the month of July, my plan is to do an hour long course every Friday. If I am being honest, the last thing I want to do during nap time is sit down to a CEU course, but I am always so glad I made myself do it after it is completed!
If there are any other SLPs reading, I do all of my continuing education through Speechpathology.com and LOVE it!

3) Make healthy food choices and maintain my exercise routine.  Normally, this would not be a goal for me- because it is just habit for me to eat well and exercise.  BUT- I am will be taking a couple little trips this month and the kids and I have a week of vacation bible school at the end of the month.  I don't know about you- but whenever I get off my "regular" routine,   I have a tendency to fall off the wagon.  My goal this month is to stay ON the wagon- no matter what our schedule looks like! HA!

4) Get my youngest daughter's yearly photo book started. I am SO happy to report that I have my two oldest daughters books DONE.  My goal this month for Celine's book is to get the picture portion of her book done. Then next month, I will do the writing portion (I just add little caption on each page, talking about what we did during that month).  Making these yearly photo books are definitely a labor of love- but my girls LOVE them so much- so all the work that goes into putting them together is worth it!!

5) Take my two older daughters on a "back to school" date!  My girls go back to school the 2nd week of August and we will be on vacation the 1st week of August- so we HAVE to get our school supplies this month!  I am going to take the "big" girls to get their school supplies at Walmart and then take them out to eat afterwards.  We are SO excited about this!! This is definitely my favorite goal of the month :)

Here's to an awesome month!! It is our last FULL month off of school- and we plan on soaking up every minute of it!!

Do you have any goals you want to accomplish this month?? I would love to hear about them!

Hope you have an awesome day!!
