Life Lately...

Hi!! Happy Monday!
How was your weekend??
Our's was great...busy...HOT...and full of lots of activity!

I took a little "break" from posting last week so I thought I might catch you up on what has been going on lately!

Two weekends ago we travelled to Southern Illinois for two really big events.

Unfortunately one of them was very sad, as my grandfather passed away 2 weeks ago.
I cannot truly convey how incredible of a man my grandfather was- he was simply the BEST.
We are so grateful knowing he is in Heaven now with his beloved wife and my grandma, but his earthly presence is going to be deeply missed by my mom and her 7 sisters and the rest of our family.

In the midst of our sadness, we had a beautiful, bright spot- because my cousin got married!
It was quite a roller coaster of emotions weekend :)
My cousin was STUNNING and her wedding was just so beautiful and fun!
My two youngest daughters were flower girls and looked so stinking cute!
And- for the first time in at least 5 years- ALL of my siblings were together!!
We got a COMPLETE family photo and I just LOVE seeing all of my family in one picture!! :)
Once we got home from our trip to Southern Illinois we had a fun week of playing and going to the pool and then this past weekend my parents came to visit!
My dad adopted a dog this past Friday and my parents brought Chief (that's his name :) with them. My kids are TOTALLY OBSESSED. Especially James and Cora. Charlotte loves him too. Celine is just okay with him :) But seriously- it was about 95 degrees this whole weekend and for a good portion of the day, our backyard is not shaded. Cora and James were out there, sweating like crazy just playing and chasing Chief all day long!
You can only guess what the kids are begging me for now.....HA!
And the most wonderful part of our weekend was Marshall's baptism yesterday!!
He was an angel during Mass and it is always so emotional- in a good way!!- when we baptize one of our babies. Knowing God has his arms wrapped around our precious child, protecting them and guiding them, for the rest of their lives...it is such a gift!
Aaron and I were quite sweaty (HA!) as we had to sit in the VERY front pew for church- but the kids did great! They basically are suctioned to my mom when she is visiting us and that is fine by me...it kept them quiet and from me looking like scary, sweaty mom having to tell them to behave while Mass was going on! HA!
Aaron and I were quite sweaty- literally and figuratively- (HA!) as we had to sit in the VERY front pew for church- but the kids did great! They basically are suctioned to my mom when she is visiting us and that is fine by me...it kept them quiet and from me looking like a scary, sweaty mom having to tell them to behave while Mass was going on! HA!

And now we are back to Monday! My parents are going to come to the pool with us this morning and then head home after that. I have a HUGE mound of laundry I need to tackle during nap/quiet time...so I am reaaallllyyy looking forward to that! HA!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend and an awesome Monday!!

  2. Oh Justine, I am so sorry to hear about your grandfather. It's definitely tough losing a grandparent. My last grandparent passed a year ago and I still miss her terribly, but they are in such a better place now.
The wedding photos look beautiful! And the flower girls looked adorable =)
How nice that you have been able to spend time with your parents. Their dog is sooo cute!!!
Enjoy your morning at the pool, and have a great Monday!!!

  8. So sorry to hear about the loss of your grandpa. Grandparents are such special people no matter what age you are! Also, always a comfort to know they are resting joyfully now.
ALL the heart eye emojis for your girls as flower girls!!! PRECIOUS!! Sounds like you've had some wonderful family time lately between the wedding and your parents' visit! Now, on to puppy shopping!!!

    1. Thank you Erica!! I really appreciate your kind words :) And UM. NO. We are not puppy shopping!! HA! This momma has got enough people to take care of right now! HA! We do plan to get a dog or 2 - but not until we move into a house that is our's (we are renting right now). So I have at least one more year I get to avoid dog poop and fur everywhere. HA!

  10. I'm sorry to hear about your grandpa's passing. It sounds like he was a really special guy. I bet it was nice to be surrounded by your family during the sad and happy times. The wedding pictures look gorgeous!! That's so fun that your girls got to be flowers girls and their flower crowns were so pretty. Loved your dresses for your big events. You looked great :) I'm laughing at your dog stories. I'm not a dog person and Olive's been asking for a puppy. I tell her that 2 cats are plenty for our family. I remind Kevin of that because he's a softy and wants to give Olive things she wants. I'm okay with being mean mom on that one :) It's been so hot so I'm hoping for some slightly cooler weather to finish out the week.
