Thoughts for Thursday!
Hi!! Happy Thursday!!
How has your week been going??
I don't know about you, but I am not mad at all that the weekend will be here VERY SOON! Ha!
So....with Valentine's Day a little over a week away, I thought I would share what I got my girls for their Valentine's treat this year!
I have always loved getting my girls a few special things for Valentine's Day! This is the first year I have gone with a theme and I think they are really going to love it!
My girls are ages 7, 5 and 3- and while they love toys and trinkets- they have WAY too many of them! So when I started to think about what I wanted to get them for Valentine's Day- I knew right away I wanted their presents to be involved with an activity.
Well- with February 14th falling on a Sunday- it works out perfectly to have a Valentine sugar cookie baking day!! My girls LOVE to help in the kitchen, they love making cookie dough (and eating it!) and of course, the best part- decorating cookies!! It is one of their favorite things to do! But- with all of them being in school and usually having weekends full of other activities- we don't get to just take an afternoon and bake cookies that often!
So for Valentine's Day we are going to do just that- take our time, make a BIG mess and hopefully end up with some delicious cookies!
With our "baking day" in mind...this is the Valentine treat box I put together for each of them!
You have to have a cute apron if you are going to be baking- right?!
I found these adorable aprons- they come in kid and "girl" sizes- at Flirtyaprons.com!
I got Cora and Charlotte's from there- on sale plus used a free shipping code and they came out to $10 each!! This was the first time I ordered anything from flirtyaprons.com and I have to say I was IMPRESSED. They processed and shipped my order fast and their prices are so reasonable! I got Celine's apron (the middle, flower pattern apron) from Amazon- but same experience- great price and it shipped fast! For Celine's apron, the description said it fits girls ages 2-7 and I would say that is not totally accurate. Celine is fairly petite for being 3 1/2 years old- and I think this apron is going to fit her perfectly. If you are looking for an apron for a taller little girl or one a couple years older- definitely check out the "girl" sizes on flirtyaprons.com- they have several size options to choose from!
Aren't they SO cute??
The bright green polka dot apron is for my daughter Cora, the flowery ruffle apron is for Celine who only wants to wear "gorgeous things" (her words-not mine! HA!) and the pink apron is for my oldest daughter Charlotte!
I picked up the Valentine boxes from the Target Dollar Spot, along with the adorable sets of heart shaped cookie cutters ($1 for a set of 3 cookie cutters)! I got the sugar cookie mixes from Aldi- I am love baking from scratch- but I am telling you- when it comes to making sugar cookies- Aldi's mix is the BEST!!
I love how their little Valentine baking boxes turned out!
I can't wait to have a fun afternoon of baking with my 3 best girls on Valentine's Day!!
Do you get your kiddos presents for Valentine's day? Or just keep it low key with a cute card and some candy? You will notice I didn't include a treat box for James...little guy has no idea what is going on and he will most likely get a few Reese's Peanut Butter cups and be as happy as a clam! HA!
While a lot people say it is a commercialized, not "real" holiday, I think Valentine's Day is SO fun. Especially with children! Who doesn't love an excuse to do a little something extra to let the special people in your life know that you love them??
I would love to know- if you are getting your kiddos treats (or nieces or nephews) for Valentine's Day- what did you get them???
What a cute idea. They will enjoy the little aprons for years to come!
ReplyDeleteOh! I just adore this idea. For real? Aldi's sugar cookie dough? I'm going to have to try this!
ReplyDeleteThis is such an amazing idea! Might do something similar for my niece!
ReplyDeleteThank you Carolyn! It is fun and simple...but I think my girls will love it! I bet your niece would too! :)
DeleteSuch fun and cute aprons!! I get my kids something red or pink that they can use -- like a new shirt or outfit, etc. And maybe a little treat for all of us!
ReplyDeleteSo sweet! We always got a little something for Valentine's day growing up so I do the same with my family. I picked out a Memory game for our toddler and my husband got her some valentine colored playdough. She's going to be in heaven. Hubby and I have a groupon to a new to us restaurant to try out sometime this month. Your girls are going to LOVE their gifts!
